THE FOLK
Minnesota practitioners of Asatru (Nordic/Germanic Heathenism) candidly
discuss their beliefs and practices in this revealing look at a largely underground
religious movement. Filled with footage of rituals never before seen by the general public
"The Folk" sheds light on this mysterious revival of the pre-christian faith of the north.
The name H.P. Lovecraft conjures up visions of tentacled creatures, unnamable horrors, and evil books of arcane lore. In 2003 Hermetic Productions set out with camera in hand to capture the spirit of Lovecraft in a documentary film. Before starting on our quest we sat down with World Fantasy Award winner and New York Times best selling author Neil Gaiman to get his thoughts on Lovecraft and all things Cthulhu. Then it was on to Providence, RI to get the essence of Lovecraft in his hometown, walking the very streets he walked, passing by the homes in which he lived, and soaking up the atmosphere that inspired him. In the fall we flew out to Portland, OR to sit in darkened theaters with hundreds of Lovecraft aficionados at the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival. While there we spoke with DAGON director Stuart Gordon about Lovecraft’s role in his work. Before leaving the northwest we were bound and determined to get in touch with the man who has devoted more time to the Lovecraft phenomenon than anyone, Lovecraft scholar and biographer S.T. Joshi.
Shortly thereafter as luck (or fate) would have it the World
Fantasy convention brought two British masters of the macabre,
Ramsey Campbell and Brian Lumley to our shores. Both granted us an
audience and were happy to talk about the man who inspired much of
their early tales. And then we got a call about Yog-Sothoth cult in central WI...The Eldritch Influence is now avaialable on DVD.
